Booking Office upgrade

We've put in a new wall and doorway, so that the office is no longer a thoroughfare; renovated the original ceiling within the booking office; installed new architrave and skirting to the original pattern (it's not made now, of course, so it became another 'DIY'); restore the ceiling mouldings and covings (ditto); install new 'old' lighting, all of which needed re-wiring - and we added emergency lighting to current standards, too.

The back office received the same treatment, except that this has a suspended ceiling with modern lighting, suitable for use with computer screens - something the GW never had to contend with. Re-decoration throughout, new storage shelves for timetables and publicity leaflets, a new location for photocopier and fax - now we need to make a new 'old' door.

Much of this work has been undertaken by Chalkie, DaveE, Colin and Robin, of the WWCC (Wailing Wall Construction Company), with help from Brian, our amazing patternmaker. To finish off, the old office desk has been completely dismantled, reduced in depth, rebuilt by Brian, scumbled by Hugh, varnished by DaveM (makes a change from coaches, and a desk is a lot smaller) and fitted with a new leatherette top. It now looks as good as new and finishes off the booking office to perfection.Benches

Three more benches have been completely rebuilt - so that's TEN shiny 'new' ones now, and one of the all-wooden benches has been totally rebuilt with amazing repairs to the ends by Brian. Patrick, Ant, Adam, Richard, and Anthony have helped with these. Check out the Gallery page.

Lighting

Brian is preparing the pattern for the small casting at the top of the lamp post, into which the half harp fastens. Once that is done, we have eight new lamps to erect. They look wonderful.  See the Gallery page.
